What Happens When the Church Confuses Testimony with Theology?
Invited by Ian Paul for Psephizo, I examine the claims behind the Church of England's endorsement of Kairos II.
At this month’s General Synod, the Church of England voted to commend Kairos II for study across the Church.
After the debate, I was asked by General Synod member and theologian Ian Paul to write a detailed piece for Psephizo, looking at both the strengths and the more serious theological, historical, and legal issues in the document.
My main point is straightforward: Palestinian Christians need to be heard. But listening to their testimony is not the same as treating contested historical, legal, and political claims as if they are settled Christian theology.
I hope the article helps shift the conversation away from slogans and towards more careful theological reflection.
